FTP access from Internet

Hi guys,
i would like to ask for a little help in solving my problem. My asus wl500gp is connected to the internet through another modem router (fritzbox). Fritz box has ip address 198.168.178.1. Asus get ip address 192.168.178.23. Asus makes the home network (his address is 192.168.1.1). Ok..i have connected an HD to the Asus and i want to get access to the HD form the Internet (this is my problem). I've the Oleg firmware 1.9.2.7-d-r1087
What i've done is: 1) USB application; enable FTP server: yes; FTP Port 21; anonimous user: disabled; allow superuser: no. Created user account list.
Then i go to NAT setting; enable virtual server: yes; virtual server list: port range 20,21; local ip 192.168.1.1; local port 21; protocol TCP; protocol number (nothing); description server (20:21)
After registered an account in DDNS.com (xx.selfip.com, service host with ip address, ip address: my current location)
Then go in IP config: miscellaneous: enable DDNS client yes; autodetect public ip address yes; server www.dyndns.org; username my username; PW my pw;host name xx.selfip.com; enable wildcard no.

I can get in my HD if i type ftp://192.168.1.1 from any computer in my home network, but if i type ftp://xx.selfip.com i don't get anything.
Can someone tell me if my configuration on Oleg firmware is well done or if i missed something? or which is the exact steb by step configuration to get my target??? thank you for your help

In your setup, the fritzbox is the gateway. So your asus router should be in AP-mode. I think DDNS will only work, if your asus router connects directly to the internet.

Can you switch the fritzbox to Modem only?

Also, the fritzbox has its own firewall. You have to forward port 21 on the fritzbox, too.

First step is to get onto your ftp directly, without the long way through dns.

Second step is to get DDNS working.

I agree with Copter, I would try to set fritzbox in bridge mode.

Cannot switch Fritzbox to "DSL modem"; in this mode the internet telephony function doesn't work (it's the reason for fritzbox use). Any other solution???

Forward your FTP-Port through the frizbox, so its reachable from the internet.

And have a look at http://trac.freetz.org/, maybe you can set up your FTP from the fritzbox? Or at least the DDNS part.

Unfortunately, I am not familiar with DDNS.
