Feeding power from adapter

Hi Folks,

I was intending to use a 2.5 inch usb external hard drive with the 500gx. The external case needs a 5 volt supply to complement the usb power supply. Has anyone wired up an adapter to split the voltage from the asus power suplly to feed a router and a hard drive? Is this safe to do?

Solved it myself, this should do the job....
