Setting up vsftpd with unslung.

Hey there,

Iv come a great way since i first started with my router - and im growing VERY happy with it - now that all the small annoyances have disapered:D

but one problem still bugs me - now that im trying to get stynos Webtool up and running.

I have it working like a charm - but the vsftpd is giving me a hard time.

When trying to install it from the ipkg packages i get this "error":


[admin@dhcppc0 bin]$ ipkg install vsftpd
Installing vsftpd (2.0.1-7) to root...
Downloading http://ipkg.nslu2-linux.org/feeds/unslung/wl500g/vsftpd_2.0.1-7_mipsel.ipk
Configuring vsftpd
You'll need to add line like
echo "ftp stream tcp nowait root /opt/sbin/vsftpd /opt/etc/vsftpd.conf" >>/etc/inetd.conf
to your /unslung/rc.xinetd file -- see the wiki at http://www.nslu2-linux.org for more info
mkdir: Cannot create directory `/usr/share/': Read-only file system
Successfully terminated.

im been looking around the mentioned website for info where the rc.xinetd file can be located - but with no luck.

Can we perhabs make this a kinda "howto", because im guessing alot of folks would want to know.

I've got the same problem.
I'm trying hard to setup vsftpd on a wl-hdd with without success... :mad:
I'm using Oleg's Firmware v. 1.9.2.7-4
Someone can help me?

Hi

I have added a vsftpd guide to my guides :

have done all the guide said, i will write if i finde a some way...
I get this error whwn i try connect ::




>ftp 192.168.82.1

500 OOPS: vsftpd: cannot locate user specified in 'ftp_username':ftp
Connection closed by remote host.


I now that from http://www.nslu2-linux.org/wiki/Unslung/Vsftpd that


* Problem: When trying to ftp into the slug, it gives a message 500 OOPS: vsftpd: cannot locate user specified in 'ftp_username':ftp""

Solution: Change the echo line in /unslung/rc.xinetd to: echo "ftp stream tcp nowait root /opt/sbin/vsftpd /opt/etc/vsftpd.conf" >>/etc/inetd.conf
But how we do in a WL500GP ?! there is no same root tree ... help please
