Hello everybody,

The sort story is, I have made really stupid mistake in installing a new firmware on my WL-700gE so it is perfectly dead now. Oh well... It was around 2 o'clock in the morning so I was really tired. What I have done was, I flashed the new firmware into flash0 device instead of flash1.trx as below:

CFE> flash -noheader 192.168.1.2:new_firmware.trx flash0
Reading 192.168.1.2:new_firmware.trx: TFTP Client.
TFTP_BLKLEN!!
Done. 1204224 bytes read
Download of 0x126000 bytes completed
Write kernel and filesystem binary to FLASH (0xbfc40000)
flash device 'flash0'
Programming...
done. 1204224 bytes written
Now, I plan to just upgrade the flash of my WL-700gE to 8MB by following Oleg's note on http://oleg.wl500g.info/wl700ge_flash.html. Getting the flash chip maybe easy. But I am sure I will be stuck in flashing the CFE loader as I don't have the flash programmer and never use such device before.

I have WL-500G Deluxe which is just lying around. It has 4MB of MX29LV320ABTC-90 flash chip, so I am thinking to use it. That way, I can just use it without the hassle of flashing the CFE loader. Though, I will need to modify the NVRAM parameters which are embedded into the CFE of WL-500G Deluxe.

According to the datasheets, there are not so many differences between MX29LV320ABTC-90 and MX29LV160CT1C-90G (WL700gE flash chip). But especially the pinouts, they are different from what Oleg's explained on his note so I can not just follow that.

Could anybody please give me suggestions and hints on this?

Thanks a lot in advance.

Anybody? Any comments or suggestions?

Or maybe Oleg? How do you know if you have to do the following as you explained on your note?

- Remove a 0 Ohm from R180 and put it to R179
- Put a 0 Ohm to position labeled R181
- Replace original resistor (10 kOhm?) labeled R185 with 0 Ohm
Do you have the schematic diagram of WL-700gE? Or did you manually trace the PCB to understand the pin connections to the flash chip? Would it be possible for you to share that information with us?

Thanks a lot in advance.
