Hi.
My Setup:
I have asus wl-500gP configured in Acces point mode (all ethernet ports are in the vlan0 and vlan0 and wifi(eth1) are bridged to br0). WL500gP is connected to aDSL router (using crossover UTP-5 cable).
My problem:
As soon as I connect wl500 to aDSL router (ie. as soon as I plug UTP cable into one of wl500's ethernet ports), the port LED starts flashing and keeps flashing until I unplug the cable. Any data transfer is unavailable in this state (I cannost ping the wl500 from router, etc.). Although If I connect computer to the wl500, data transfer between computer and wl500 works fine (I can browse wl500's web interface, ping it, telnet to it).
I have tried reseting settings. I have tried original ASUS firmware, oleg firmware and openwrt - always with the same result.
Wireshark shows only spanning tree updates comming from the wl500.
This problem occured about a month after installing openwrt kamikaze on the wl500.

If anybody has any hint, please reply.

hi,

have you tried a normal utp-5 cable instead of an crossover?

normally crossover cables are only use in 'direct' connections like
pc <-> pc
broadbandmodem<-> pc
(and there are other situations in which crossover cables can be used)

some devices don't like it when they are connected with crossover cables.

Hi raas,
thanks for your reply.

I have tried both straight and crossover cables, but problem persists.
In fact, the crossover cable has been used to connect two switches, so there shouldn't be problem.
The problem I described only appears when I connect wl500 (LAN) to another switch. If I connect my pc or laptop to the wl500 (LAN), everything works just fine.
