Hi,

I got a WL500G with OLEG firmware 1.7.5.6 ( CR ? ) which worked fine for me. Now I got a new Acer notbook with build in Intel 2200BG. I have a lot of eventlog entries :

Meaning of TCPIP 4201: The system detected that network adapter %2 was connected to the network, and has initiated normal operation over the network adapter.
Microsoft says: This is a normal event that indicates your network adapter is ready for normal operation. <-- :mad: but not if it happens every 4 minutes :mad:


As you can see this error appears ever 4 minutes ( 240 seconds ). I search the internet for a solution but unlucky me I didnt find anything that works.
Just wanna know if you guys think that a new firmware for WL500G can solve my problem and if YES which version to install ( an USB Canon print is connected to WL500G and must work !)

btw: the system log on WL500G says nothing about new connection or something like that.

I already have installed the news driver form Intel for the 2200BG ( guess 9.0.1.9 )
My OS is WinXP prof, SP2 with all patches.

Assign IP address manually and check if it helps.

Hi Oleg,

thanks for quick answer. I already have assigned all ip-addresses manualy.
DHCP on the WL500G is also disabled.

Check cabling, try to set 10 Mbps Half duplex on your laptop.

Ok,

I try 10 half when I'm at home.

I can not check the cabeling because it's WLAN ;)

I let you know if it changed anything

oh, I see now. Try switching to WEP then.

You are right, I am not using WEP at the moment. I use WPA and do not populate mit SID.
Do you think this can cause the problem ?

Anyway, do you recommend to update my firmware from 1.7.5.6 CR5 to a new one ? I dont use this SAMBA and all other new stuff. Just wanna have a stable connection and wanna have my printer working.
