Hi all,

I have been coping a lot of data over samba to the HD on my wl-700ge. Over the network this seems very slow and I am lucky to reach 2mb/sec.

If I run the following command:
[root@MEDIA samba]$ hdparm -tT /dev/discs/disc0/disc

/dev/discs/disc0/disc:
Timing buffer-cache reads: 48 MB in 0.52 seconds = 92991 kB/s
Timing buffered disk reads: 9 MB in 3.07 seconds = 2997 kB/s
[root@MEDIA samba]$

The rate is far from impressive given the 7200rpm disc present internally.

I am running the kc firmware WL700gE_kc_1078_02, and top shows that nothing is really gobbling the cpu. Ive searched around but found nothing conclusive.

Any ideas or tweaks?

I've noticed the same thing, but I recall the CPU being rather taxed during the transfer and just assumed that was the bottleneck. Maybe I'll revisit it again...

I was wondering as other posts around here indicate faster transfer times.

If this really is the limit i wonder why asus bothered with a hotter, probably noisier 7200rpm disc...
