Hello there,

i just bought an new HP P1006 Laserjet Printer. The Printer wont work whith my Asus 500g. This seems to be an known problem, as i could read here.

Can someone tell me what to do to make this printer running whith my Asus.

get the firmware for your printer here: http://oleg.wl500g.info/hplj and make a hotplug script according to: http://wl500g.info/showthread.php?t=4092

I got the firmwarefile from your first link.

In the second link i suppose you mean this post with the how-to:

There is mentioned a file called usb_printerid. Where can i get this?

Hi,
is it work for WL500gDeluxe too?
I tried it, but asus have no lot of flash memory, looks like:

$ flashfs commit
/tmp/flash.tar.gz: File is to big (154975, max 65536)

Do you have any solution?

There is no way to fit this firmware in the internal 64K of flashfs memory on Deluxe. However, you may attach an external flash drive and put the firmware here. Another option might be helpful if you put this firmware somewhere in the internet and just download it every time it's needed to router.

I tried use external usb memory stick, but it doesn't work, i don't know, how mount it or i have incompatibile ones. I see no /dev/disks directory. It works automaticly after reboot? Do you have any suggestion about it?

But download drivers from web every time.. this is good revolutionary idea, i try it, thanks for open my eyes :eek:

you need to load usb storage drivers before you can use external flash. Assuming you use Oleg's v.9 and above, there is a checkbox in system setup -> services -> enable usb storage.

I did it, but no efect. I have Olegs firmware 1.9.2.7-10, Services - USB Storage swith on, many reboots ... and nothing. Please help.
