When I connect my external USB disk, it has some strange behaviour !
It seems it tries to read, then shut the USB hub off...

1. My USB disk a USB-powered 2,5" (so it needs to be connected on 2 usb ports for the power). Data for the HD is included in the log bellow. It is an old 2GB disk, FAT32 formatted.
2. My USB hub is externally power, and it works very fine when connected to a comptuer.
3. Usually, the USB hub is connected to the Wl-500g with the printer and a USB mem key, and it works fine 24/24.

I would like to use that disk for extended storage capcity. It is working perfrectly when plugged to my computer (via the hub) !

Thanks for your help.

so, your hdd consume to much power. replace with newer...

Any way, I don't really understand why it is not working... In fact, with the HUB, it works fine on any USB port of any computer, as it has an external powersource... No (a minimum of) power is taken from the root USB plug...

Is there any log message that would confirm you hypothesis ?
Or is that coming from an other problem ?

Thanks

Ok, this is not the case if you've external power (if it works at all)...
Does it work being directly connected to the wl500g?

Oleg,

Thanx for your quick adivce, but I need 2 usb ports...
So I does not fit for the WL-500g (perhaps it would on the gx).

But can you interpret the log I posted ?

Thx

JF

Oleg,

Sorry, I answered in the previous post. I need 2 USB ports (as seen on the picture). So I can not try directly plugged on the WL-500g (maybe it would work on gx). That's why I use a hub...

Thx

Once again. Disconnect EVERYTHING from wl500g and connect hdd directly. If it starts working whis way. then the problem is with your hub. No more ideas.

Oleg,

Really thanks for you help... Unfortunatelly, If I plug only one end of the usb cable, the HD will not start. I have to power it with the second usb cable end (once more, as on the picture)...
So with only one cable, it does no work....

Anyway, thx,
Let me know if you get some other idea sometime !

So, looks like your hdd consumes to much power. Replace with other.
