Asus have started the production of version 2 of the WL-500g Premium.
The hardware is different and the firmware are incompatible.

Does someone know the differences of performances among the 2 versions?
Were's better?

In this link there are the hardware difference but there aren't the performance differences from the device.

I'm not aware of such comparison. Test both and post results. It'd be interesting to see.

I'm also thinking about buying WL-500g. In the stores they have both versions in sale. Therefore I'm asking which version would be a better choice? It seems v1 has more support among 3rd party firmwares, but is there some arguments for v2?

All comments would be appreciated.

At this moment I think is better to buy v1. V1 is more flexible with miniPCI slot.
In the future I think that the two version shall equivalent.

I did't watch the performance differences V1 vs V2. I have trouble with V2: Wi-Fi does not work under last Oleg's firmware (under ASUS firmware all is OK)
Also V2 does not support Web-camera.

I have the same wi-fi problem with V2. Did you find the solution ?
I tried
wl radio on
and no difference. However, with wl radio off the Air LED goes off...
Could be a bug of Oleg's firmware ?

There is really a problem with wireless driver for wl500gP v.2 in Oleg's v.10

At the moment there are two possible solutions:

1) Czech's firmware from http://koppel.cz/cdmawifi/english/

It's Oleg's firmware based with added support for usb modems. Latest 1.71 version includes updated wi-fi driver for v.2

2) The second solution was posted here: http://wl500g.info/showpost.php?p=115118&postcount=75

It's Oleg's v.10 firmware with updated wi-fi driver

Last half a year Oleg is busy with house contruction. I hope he'll appear back soon, as winter here is not the best time for such works :)
