Hi,

I'm for some time now the happy owner of the WL-500g access point, and now I'm thinking of buying an external hard disk with a capacity of 200 - 250 GB (like eg the Maxtor OneTouch II (http://www.maxtor.com/portal/site/Maxtor/menuitem.ba88f6d7cf664718376049b291346068/?channelpath=/en_us/Products/External%20Hard%20Drives/OneTouch%20II%20Family/Maxtor%20OneTouch%20II%20FireWire%20and%20USB&productview=Overview)). In the reported compatible hardware list, I could only find solutions using an external storage case.
Does anybody have experience with connecting this disk (or another >200 GB disk) to the WL-500g?

Thanks,
Dirk

Hi

There should be no difference, most likey maxtor only sells one of his hd´s premounted in a usual external HD case. In most cases today they are usb mass storage compilant and so should give no problems with the Asus.

But you should think on that you can get an avarage of 650kb/s throgh the USB connection, which is quite slow compared to the 100mbit on the LAN port. So, 200Gb will take a long time filling it. if you habe some spare smaller HD, use them. My 10Gb are more then enough :).
