hi, i'm new here.

i would have to buy this router after a very dispappointing experienc with a wag54g.. (many wireless problem.. infinite disconnection etc...)i have to ask some question :

1) does this stuff work great (with original firmware i mean)as a normal access point + router (considering i use (alwais-on) 2 BTorrent client and 1 mldonkey-pc, so many connection..)

2) what is WAN DIE problem ?

3) if i've "understand" (it's that right? sorry for my english, i write from italy :( ) i can install your "relase" of linux on this router. what kind of advantage i can have by doing this.

you can buy the wl500g for this purposes

about the wag54g that one sucks very hard, I see many defective wag54g's both ISDN/Analog (or perhaps wrong configured by user, but you can't test ADSL so we'll never know)

the WAN DIE problem seems te be solved in current beta firmware 1.8.2.4

about linux, the router just RUNS linux nothing else. A custom firmware can be obtained from this board or from http://wl500g.dyndns.org/ to advantage of more advanced stuff (if you need it at all)

and at last, I strongly suggest you to wait for the WL500gx(WL500g Deluxe) if you have time left to wait

I bought the WAG54G and I never arrived to fix the wifi who die all time pb. :mad:
I replaced it with a little adsl modem and a wl500g, no more pb, everything works fine. :p

OT:
the WAG54G seems to occur many problems related to wifi, which includes (not user misconfigurations things) very low signal at all channels
resetting the device to default does not matter

problems with keeping the ADSL connection up, allthough this is something i'm not sure about and have never been able to test this myself because I don't own a ADSL line. perhaps those problems are related to the users configuration.
