Today I added a WL500gPremium to my network.

situation know is":

Cable modem ---> WL500gPremium ---> WL500gDeluxe.

before my download speeds in Azureus where between 250kb and 400kb

know they don't go past 20 or 30kb?

The 500gDeluxe is setup as access point and the Nat settings that I had put in the deluxe have been put in the Premium.

Firmware version for Premium = 1.9.7.2
Azureus port number = 57267

Tried in bandwith management under basic config to put internet applications as priorty and still no luck !!!

Downloading a file through Internet Explorer is fast

Anybody any ideas ?

Please help me.

Kind regards,
Chris

1.) firmware 1.9.7.2 is outdated - use 1.9.7.5 from asus website or olegs from here. With the asus firmware I had too many troubles, even with 1.9.7.5,
therefore I installed Olegs.
2.) azureus is a torrent client, your asus can overtake it and act as torrent client, no need to have your PC always on. For this you need Olegs firmware and some howtos from here.
There is a download manager installed in asus-firmware, but that one has never worked propper in my asus. But when using Olegs firmware, you can use any torrent-software or other software from here: http://www.nslu2-linux.org/wiki/Optware/Packages
But before you should read some howtos aso., just to know how to achieve satisfaction with your asus.

Oké I will update the firmware. What version should I download and where can I get it ?

See if that solves the problem, I will probably not be using the download manager, as I need my Computer on at all times.

At the moment in the router I have nothing selected in the Bandwith management basic config or in the User specify servivces.

So Gaming Blaster, Internet Application, FTP Server and Voip/Video Streaming al state Low.

Well, you can use Asus firmware @ http://support.asus.com/download/download.aspx?SLanguage=en-en

in the upper, left corner you should input your model: WL-500gP

Or if you want to install olegs:

http://wl500g.info/showthread.php?t=11085

don't forget to follow the link under item 4.)

Consider to set router to factory defaults before flashing.

I use olegs, because I have full access to my router, which allows me to install whatever possible, or to write my own scripts.

Other opensource firmwares are available.

Enjoy!

Thanks, but could it also be that my download speeds in Azureus are so low because there's a second router the WL500gDeluxe in between that's setup as access point ?

Well, maybe - but for such particular question I can't tell you anything, as I do not have experience with your network-configuration.
But what I'm doing fom time to time: (when I have visitors at my patio)
I plug an old Netgear WDR614V3 to my network - this device is configured to work with old 11b standards, but the funny thing is, that there is not a real difference in speed compared with 54g.
I would try several configs:
At first I would switch off everything, just to find out what can be the reason. Then enable always one item more, until slowdown.
