I think the asus router may be corrupt my folder structure on my FAT formatted USB external HD.

I've got the HD connected via usb to the Asus router and mapped the Asus HD and USB HD separately in Windows explorer.

I recently created some new folders using windows explorer and moved files into this folder. Now when I look at the folder it appears as an extensionless file rather than a folder.

Is there any way to prevent this?

Is there any way to retreive the data in the former-folders?

I've attached a screenshot showing this

THanks!!

Maybe you could try chkdsk....
Of course you have to attach the disk at your computer first.

Then, before you go on, try to replicate the situation, to learn how to avoid it.
