Hi everybody,

I am new to these things but I recently purchased a WL-500g premium and would like to modify it with Oleg's custom firmware.
I have a question though: after uploading the firmware and performing all the steps in the guides posted here, will I always have to write commands when I want to interact with the router? In other words, will I lose the web-based interface?
As I mentioned, I am a linux newbie and it would suck having to type commands every time I want to change a setting...
What are my options if I want to stick to web-based configuration?
Thanks in advance!

No. You will always have the web interface! The problem is that the web interface doesn´t have so many options as typing the commands you want! With ssh or telnet connection you have access to other type of programs!

... and there are additional webinterfaces for services you installed over telnet / ssh and ipkg.
e.g. transmission, samba, ...

OK, I got it and I'm 99% on the task.
One more thing though... If anything goes wrong and I get stuck somewhere in the middle, is there a way of reverting the changes that I made to the router? I mean taking it back to factory firmware?
I "played" with router/firewall linux distributions like Smoothwall and IPCop, but these were regular distros on regular PCs... I'm not sure I can do the same on a router (a different platform)
Thanks in advance!

There's an option in the web interface to reset to factory default!
System Setup -> Factory Default
When you choose this in Oleg's firmware, you'll have your router like the day you flashed the firmware!

Regarding to the factory firmware, you can always go to asus and get the original firmware and flash it. The router will be like the day you got it from the store!
