I'm sure it's pretty easy to do(and it has been asked before), but I've been searching around on this forum for a couple of days now, and I can't find an answer to my question.

This is the setup:

Internet from ISP---->Linksys ADSL modem/router(+wireless)---->Asus Wl-500g Deluxe.

I would like to expand the wireless range, using the Asus. The Asus is now connected to one of the Lan-ports of the Linksys modem/router using an UTP cable. The linksys gives this IP to the Asus: 192.168.1.101

Do I need to setup the Asus as an AP? If yes; do I need to connect the UTP cable from LAN-port 1 of the Linksys, to the WAN-port of the asus, or to a LAN-port of the Asus?

I'm totally new to this, so I'm sorry if this has been already asked!

Hi,

if you want the linksys to do the routing for you, you have to configure the asus as as 'Access point only' in the system configuration.
By doing this, the routing capabilities of the asus are disabled. (but you don't need them)

As far as where to put the cable after configuring the setting above.
This does not matter if you take lan 1-4 or wan.
When you configure the asus as access point only, the WAN port is automatically threated as a lan port (thus 5 lan ports in total)

btw. this is clearly documented in the manual and even in the quick setup guide.
