Hello everybody! I got this problem.
This is my situation WLAN 500G with a HP3500 series printer on the USB-port
Everything was going very well until yesterday
I had printed something (2 docs) but after it was finished, there appeared an error message in the printer-taskbar
Somehow there was a 3th document printing  but there was also no paper left.
So it gave an eror message. I could not get the document away from the tasklist. It was saying: "deleting task" but nothing happened.
Restarting the PC was my only solution to this problem thanx to microsoft XP(does somebody knows a better way do get this done?)

However. my problem is, that I cannot print anything any more since than. :(
No one in my little network can any more?
I only get an error messages again which I cannot deleted!
I have tried new firmware, but I lost all settings due to that. so I have reset the router and reloaded my saved settings.
After this everything was working fine, EXCEPT THE PRINTER

Please, please, I am in very need of assistance

0:Right click the printer icon ("Start"; "Printers") on your WinXP PC and check for any checkmarks next to "use printer offline" or "halt printing" or something similar. If so remove the check marks by clicking on the checked item(s) If "halt printing" is not available there may be one like "resume printing" If so check this one. If any of the above applies to your situation continue with item 5 from the list below, then item 9. If not then:

1: Switch off printer power (if possible)
2: Unplug printer (power and usb cable)
3: Check router status page (printer should be offline or unavailable)
4: On your WinXp pc check printer status (should be offline / unavailable or something alike). If this not the case right click on the printer icon and select "use printer offline" or something similar)
5: On your WinXp switch off bidirectional support for the printer (probably behind some button on the details tab of the printer properties.
6: Plug in printer cables and switch power on
7: Check router status page (printer should be online)
8: On your WinXp pc right click on the printer icon and unselect "use printer offline"
9: Print test page

This will probably solve your problem for now and prevent it from happening again.

If you ever have the same problem again only delete the print job (Open the printer status window from your system tray and delete active jobs or right click printer icon, select "remove all print jobs" or something alike. Then be patient!!

Also when removing a task be patient!! Killing a process may take a long time, go get a cup of coffee or a beer and don't come back for 10 - 15 minutes.

Don't blame M$ for every problem you get!

Good luck

net stop spooler
net start spooler

Isn't WXp supposed to do this automatically when the spooler service fails?
